Review on Bacterial Foraging Optimization

By: Maan, Deepak.
Publisher: New Delhi Journals Pub 2019Edition: Vol.5(2), Jul-Dec.Description: 19-29p.Subject(s): EXTC EngineeringOnline resources: Click here In: International journals of power electronics controllers and convertersSummary: Bacterial foraging optimization algorithm (BFOA) is based on the social and cooperative behaviour found in nature. Bacteria look for nutrients in nature in an optimized manner such that it improves its nutrient level as well as it also helps other bacteria to find the nutrient by attracting them towards the food bacteria are looking for nutrients so that the energy extracted per unit time is maximized. Through sending signals, individual bacteria often interact with others. Growing bacterium attempts to optimize its obtained energy per unit of time spent on the process of foraging and to avoid noxious substances. Application of team foraging strategy in multi-optimal task optimization of a swarm of E.coli bacteria is the key idea of the new algorithm. This idea of social cooperation among the bacterium explored by Bremermann and extended later by Passino. After considering two previous factors, a bacterium makes forging decisions.
